The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) on Thursday (27 January) handed over Miram Taron, a youth who went missing from India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh last week, to the Indian Army.

Rijiju, who is the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh, also thanked the Indian Army for pursuing the case meticulously with the PLA and securing the return of the boy.

On 19 January, Arunachal Pradesh's MP Tapir Gao had said that PLA abducted a 17-year-old boy from inside the Indian territory in state's Upper Siang district on 18 January.

Gao said that the incident took place near the place where Tsangpo river enters India in Arunachal Pradesh. Tsangpo is called as Siang in Arunachal Pradesh and Brahmaputra in Assam.

The Army sought assistance from PLA to locate the individual on their side and return him as per established protocol.
