According to the autopsy report, Gangster Atiq Ahmed was shot a minimum of nine times during his shocking on-camera murder outside a hospital in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh on 15 April.
The postmortem examination revealed that the dreaded gangster Atiq Ahmed had sustained at least nine bullet injuries, while his brother Ashraf Ahmed, who was also shot dead along with Atiq, had five bullets recovered from his body, sources told NDTV.
Five doctors performed the post-mortem and recorded it on video for the investigation of the high-profile case.
As per the report, Atiq Ahmed was shot once in the head and eight times on the chest and back and Ashraf's body had five bullet injuries, with one on his face and four on his back.
Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed with a history of over 100 criminal cases was in the headlines since February when Umesh Pal, a lawyer and a witness in the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal, was killed in broad daylight on a busy street in Prayagraj.
Atiq Ahmed, who was the main accused in the murder of a BSP MLA and also named in the murder of Umesh Pal, had been serving time in a Gujarat prison since 2019.
Asad, the third son of Atiq Ahmed, became the ‘most wanted’ man in Uttar Pradesh after leading half-a-dozen shooters who killed Umesh Pal.
Asad and Ghulam, both wanted in the murder case, were killed in the encounter with UP Special Task Force (STF) team in Jhansi last week.
