PM Modi at Kedarnath temple today (PMO)
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kedarnath in Uttarakhand today (21 October) and performed pooja at the sacred Hindu Temple.
Donning the traditional Pahadi dress, the Prime Minister performed Rudrabhishek at the inner sanctum of the ancient Kedarnath temple.
The Prime Minister also visited the Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi Sthal and reviewed the work in progress along with Mandakini Asthapath and Saraswati Asthapath.
He also interacted with the workers involved in the redevelopment project of Kedarnath.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami and the Governor of Uttarakhand, Retd. Gen Gurmit Singh.
The ropeway in Kedarnath will be around 9.7 Km long and will connect Gaurikund to Kedarnath, reducing the travel time between the two places from 6-7 hours at present, to only about 30 mins.
“Kedarnath is one of the most important Hindu shrines. The connectivity projects being undertaken show the Prime Minister’s commitment to ease access and improve basic infrastructure in places of religious significance,” PMO said in a release.
In November 2021, PM Modi inaugurated Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi and unveiled the 12-feet tall statue of Adi Shankaracharya near Kedarnath temple.
The Samadhi has been reconstructed after its destruction in the 2013 floods.
