A Naxal commander named Navin, involved in the killing of 48 police and security personnel in Jharkhand and Bihar, surrendered before Jharkhand Police and CRPF on Wednesday (8 November). He was a prominent member of the banned Naxal organisation CPI (Maoist) and had a reward of Rs 15 lakh on his head.

As per the state government's policy, Navin Yadav's surrender was welcomed with a bouquet, and he was shifted into the Hazaribagh Open Jail. He was wanted in 72 cases, including murder, arson, looting, and possession of illegal weapons, Navbharat Times reported.

In the year 2011, an attack on the convoy of the then Member of Parliament from Chatra, Indar Singh Namdhari, resulted in the death of eight soldiers. Navin Yadav was accused of involvement in this incident.

In the same year, in Bhandariya of Gadhwa district, a Naxal attack claimed the lives of 13 soldiers, and in 2016, 10 soldiers were killed during Naxal attacks on the Aurangabad-Gaya border in Bihar. Navin was involved in these incidents as well.
