Rahul Gandhi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Wayanad for the first time today (11 April) after being disqualified from the Lok Sabha. He was accompanied by his sister Priyanka Gandhi.
Speaking at a roadshow named 'Satyameva Jayate' in Kalpetta town, he said that he remained committed to the people of Wayanad, even though he had been disqualified.
"They (BJP) can take my house and put me in jail, but they can't stop me from representing the people of Wayanad and their issues," he said.
Priyanka Gandhi attacked the BJP government saying that it was mercilessly attacking one man for raising questions.
Gandhi was convicted and sentenced to two years in jail in March for his "How come all thieves have Modi surname?” remark.
