Senthil Balaji Case: Supreme Court Adjourns Hearing To August 1

The Supreme Court bench of Justices AS Bopanna and MM Sundresh today (27 July) adjourned the hearing of the plea by Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Balaji and his wife Megala to 1 August.

They had challenged the Madras High Court judgement which stated that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) could take him into custody for interrogation and that the habeas corpus plea was not maintainable.

Balaji's judicial custody was extended till 8 August by the Principal City Sessions Court yesterday (26 July). He is currently lodged in Chennai's Puzhal prison.
