DMK Leader Sivaji Krishnamurthy
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader Sivaji Krishnamurthy was today (18 June) expelled from the party after his derogatory remarks against Governor RN Ravi and actress Khushbu Sundar.
Referring to a recent issue about the Governor initially refusing to reallocate portfolios of Senthil Balaji to ministers Thangam Thennarasu and S Muthusamy, reportedly due to ‘misleading and incorrect’ reasons provided and subsequently stating that he had agreed to the reallocation but not to the continuation of Balaji as minister as he was facing criminal proceedings for moral turpitude and is currently in judicial custody, he said, "a man with a moustache and originally born to his mother would not change his stance."
The rest of his remarks, in which he called his wife a "super figure" and actress Khushbu Sundar an "old vessel" were seen as objectifying women.
The remarks were condemned by Khushbu, who is now in the BJP and also a member of the National Commission for Women (NCW).
Krishnamurthy is a repeat offender who was earlier suspended by the DMK in January for his remarks against Governor RN Ravi. He had then said that a terrorist should be sent to kill Governor Ravi.
These remarks come just a month after the party revoked his suspension.
