Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president, K Annamalai campaigned for KS Thennarasu, who is the candidate of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)- BJP alliance.

Coming down heavily on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), for the deteriorating law and order in the state, he said that the party had sent all its top ministers to the constituency due to fear of losing.

He added that the people of the constituency should remember that all that DMK was doing is a ‘drama’ that would continue till 27 February, i.e., the date of the elections and after that all of them would disappear.

A few days back, Annamalai had written to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), saying that the DMK was bribing voters with 2 kilograms of meat and cash.

The DMK has gone all out in its campaign and has tried a lot of methods to get closer to the people.

DMK member Salem Govindan was seen in the guise of a soothsayer who would invoke 'Jakkamma' to say that the DMK-led alliance would win. Tiruttani MLA S Chandran was seen campaigning on a camel and Minority Affairs minister Gingee Masthan was seen making parotta. The party also arranged people who dressed up as Karunanidhi and MK Stalin to seek votes.

Regarding the approachability of EVKS Elangovan, who is the Congress candidate, Annamalai said that, once elected, Elangovan would be in Chennai all the time, whereas Thennarasu would be available to the people of Erode East.

He also recalled Elangovan’s remarks against Ilayaraja and former chief minister J Jayalaliltha.
