Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Bandi Sanjay has been released from Karimnagar District Jail after getting bail.
His release comes a day after the Telangana High Court said that his plea against the 14-day judicial remand ordered by a Hanamkonda magistrate would be heard on 10 April and he was at liberty to apply for bail at a lower court.
On coming out of jail, Sanjay said, "If someone shares the question paper on WhatsApp in what way I am connected to it?
"Let the BRS government order a judicial probe by a sitting judge into all the incidents of question paper leaks to unravel the facts."
After the arrest, Warangal police commissioner AV Ranganath had said that they booked Sanjay under Section 5 of the Telangana Public Examinations (Prevention of Malpractice and Unfair Means) Act, 1997, besides Section 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy) and Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.
He added that Prashant was in touch with Sanjay and the police felt that he had planned the whole operation to defame the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) government.
BJP leaders had held protests all over the state and said that the BRS government had resorted to violating the Supreme Court guidelines while arresting him. They said that the police had picked him up from his residence without providing any notice or reasons for the arrest and kept moving him from place to place.
