Army soldier Prabhu
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president, K Annamalai said that the party would conduct a fast on 21 February at Sivananda Salai in Chennai with the participation of ex-servicemen to condemn the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s (DMK) attitude towards the death of army soldier Prabhu.
Following that, on the same day, a protest march would be conducted from Omandurar Hospital to the War Memorial in Chennai.
He added that the law-and-order situation in the situation had worsened to such an extent that a DMK councillor had dared to brutally assault a serving army soldier.
Prabhu died of injuries that he sustained in a brutal assault by DMK councillor Chinnaswamy and his associates. The attack happened after an argument between him and Chinnaswamy over washing of clothes at a water tank near Prabhu’s house.
While the police have arrested all the accused in the case, issues like the DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan calling it a ‘small thing’, and Chief Minister MK Stalin avoiding questions on the subject have drawn flak from the opposition.
In another instance, when Udhayanidhi Stalin was asked as to why was the councillor not suspended from the party, he kept saying, 'its a family dispute', ‘he has been arrested.’

Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
