CJI Questions Tamil Nadu Government For Invoking NSA Against YouTuber Manish Kashyap Who Allegedly Shared Fake Videos Of Attacks On Migrants

During a hearing in the Supreme Court today (21 April), Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud questioned the Tamil Nadu government for invoking the National Security Act (NSA) against YouTuber Manish Kashyap from Bihar who allegedly shared fake videos of attacks on migrant workers.
Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Tamil Nadu said that Kashyap was not merely a journalist but a popular figure with over 60 lakh followers who had also contested elections.
The bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha then sent a notice to the governments of Bihar and Tamil Nadu asking them to respond to Kashyap's challenge against the NSA being invoked against him.
This comes after the Supreme Court had last week issued notice to the Centre as well as the two states to submit their response to Kashyap's plea to club all the FIRs registered against him.
He is currently lodged in the Madurai Central Prison.
