DMK Councillor Beats Army Soldier To Death In Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri; Police Arrest 6 Accused Including Councillor's Son

Prabhu, a soldier in the Indian Army, from Krishnagiri, succumbed to his injuries, after being beaten by Chinnaswamy, a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) municipal councillor and his associates.
On 8 February, an argument broke out between them, when Chinnaswamy objected to Prabhu and his brother Prabhakaran washing clothes at a water tank near their house.
Later that day, Chinnaswamy along with others attacked them, severely injuring Prabhu.
The police have arrested six men involved in the attack based on a complaint filed by Prabhakaran. One of the arrested accused is Chinnaswamy's son, Rajapandi.
Reacting to the incident, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president, K Annamalai said that he was shocked and angered to hear of Prabhakaran's death.
Coming down heavily on Chief Minister MK Stalin, he said that the law and order situation had deteriorated under the DMK rule to such an extent that even Army soldiers are not safe in their hometowns.
In November 2022, an audio clip of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) cadre threatening a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan who had condemned Thirumavalavan's separatist remarks, went viral, causing outrage on social media.
One of them had said, “Who are you to speak against my leader? I will take the pulp out of you. I will kill you. I will come to the border and bomb you.”
