Fifty Nurses Honoured As Special Guests For Independence Day

Fifty nurses and their family members from different parts of the country have been invited as special guests to witness Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day address at the Red Fort.

They will join 1,800 other special guests, including sarpanches, teachers, farmers, and fishermen, who have also been invited to participate in the Independence Day celebrations on 15 August 2023.

“The initiative to invite the people from all walks of life, across India, and be a part of the celebrations has been taken by the Government in line with its vision of ‘Jan Bhagidari’,” the Centre said.

Members of the nursing community have expressed their appreciation for the government's initiative, as reported in The Hindu.

Anita Tomar, a nursing officer from Delhi, said that being invited to participate in the Independence Day celebration is a recognition of their efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.

She expressed gratitude "from the bottom of my heart" to the Prime Minister for this gesture that "will benefit the entire nursing community.

Vandana Kaushik, a nursing officer at Safdarjung Hospital, also acknowledged the government's supportive attitude towards nurses. She mentioned that their support extends beyond invitations and can be seen through various development schemes.
