Thiruvananthapuram MP and Congress leader, Shashi Tharoor.
Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Shashi Tharoor expressed his surprise at "the blinkers regularly put on by Western media" in a post on X.
He quoted a BBC article, titled "Hardeep Singh Nijjar: Why Western nations fear India-Canada row", which said, "Western nations have condemned alleged extraterritorial assassinations carried out by countries such as Russia or Iran or Saudi Arabia. They will not want India to join that list."
Tharoor said that the Western media houses "are so quick to judge other countries, so blind to their own!"
He claimed, "The two foremost practitioners of extra-territorial assassinations in the last 25 years have been Israel and the US!" and asked, "Any mirrors available in the West?", mocking the Western media.
Notably, The Washington Post reported that Canada had raised the allegations implicating Indian officials in the killing of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar with President Biden and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. However, they were met with reluctance.
