Mount Kailash
Starting in September of this year, Hindu pilgrims will have the opportunity to visit Mount Kailash, which is believed to be the dwelling place of Lord Shiva, from the Indian territory.
According to officials, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has initiated the construction of a road from KMVN Huts in Nabhidhang, located in the Pithoragarh district, to Lipulekh pass on the border between India and China. The road is expected to be completed by September.
Vimal Goswami, the Chief Engineer of BRO's Diamond Project, stated, "We have commenced the construction of a road from KMVN Huts to Lipulekh Pass in Nabhidhang, which spans approximately 6.5 kilometers."
Once the road is finished, a 'Kailash View Point' will be established along the route. The Indian government has entrusted Hirak Project with the task of developing 'Kailash View Point'.
According to Goswami, a significant amount of road-cutting work has been carried out, and if the weather remains favorable, it is expected to be completed by September.
The Kailash-Mansarovar pilgrimage via the Lipulekh Pass has not yet resumed following its postponement due to the Covid pandemic.
The prolonged suspension of the pilgrimage has prompted the Indian government to explore alternative routes for devotees to reach Mount Kailash.
