Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi
Rajasthan Police on Monday (11 December) arrested a weapon supplier accused of providing pistols and Rs 1 lakh to the shooters involved in the killing of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi. This brings the total number of arrests in the case to eight.
Gangster Rohit Godara, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for Gogamedi's murder on social media, alleging that Gogamedi supported his enemies.
The police revealed that shooters Rohit Singh Rathore and Nitin Fauji entered Gogamedi's premises with the assistance of his neighbor, Naveen Shekhawat, and shot both individuals after a 15-minute conversation.
Gogamedi sustained nine gunshot wounds to his chest, head, and back. CCTV footage captured Fauji returning to fire more bullets at Gogamedi.
Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph identified the weapons dealer as Puja Saini, alias Puja Batra. He stated, "She and her husband Mahendra Kumar Meghwal, alias Sameer, also supplied weapons multiple times to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. We also seized an AK-47 rifle from their place that might have been used in the killing of gangster Raju Thehat [in December 2022]."
Additional Police Commissioner Kailash Bishnoi shared information indicating that Fauji stayed in the Pratapnagar area for a few days before the incident, Hindustan Times reported.
"After searching the area, we tracked these weapon peddlers and arrested Puja from her flat in Jaipur’s Jagatpura, while her husband is absconding," Bishnoi added.
Bishnoi revealed that Fauji arrived in Jaipur on 28 November and met Meghwal. It was through Meghwal that Fauji maintained contact with gangster Rohit Godara, linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Meghwal had acquired several pistols and cartridges in large quantities, police said. Fauji received two pistols and as many magazines, while Rathore got one pistol and two magazines. Pooja also reportedly prepared food for Fauji.
On the morning of 5 December, Meghwal dropped Fauji on Ajmer Road, where Rathore was waiting. The armed duo was then taken to Gogamedi's residence in Jaipur's Shyam Nagar area.
After the murder, three men, including two shooters, were apprehended for their involvement in the case and were presented before a local court. The magistrate remanded them to police custody for seven days.
