Several states have approached the Uttar Pradesh government for land in Ayodhya, as the online registration process for the allocation of plots for mutts, ashrams, and commercial purposes in the temple town is set to commence on 10 November, according to individuals with knowledge of the matter.

With the grand inauguration of the Ram Temple scheduled for 22 January next year in Ayodhya, several states have expressed an interest in establishing their state guest houses in the vicinity, Hindustan Times reported.

The Yogi Adityanath-led government has already allocated 6,000 square meters of land to Gujarat for the establishment of its state guest house in the proposed new Ayodhya Greenfield township project, as confirmed by a senior official.

Neeraj Shukla, additional housing commissioner of the UP Housing Board, mentioned, "Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Assam, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and Arunachal Pradesh have approached the state government for land allocation in Ayodhya."

The state government is preparing to launch a new greenfield township project in Ayodhya on 10 November, enabling online applications for the allocation of plots for mutts, ashrams, dharamshalas, and commercial purposes.

Private individuals and ashrams are also eligible to apply for these plots. This township will be developed on 1,407 acres of land on both sides of the Lucknow-Gorakhpur highway, with plans for a 442-acre extension in the project's second phase.

"The online registration for mutts and ashrams will conclude on 30 November," stated Ranvir Prasad, the state's housing commissioner. "Commercial plots will be allotted through e-auction, with registration commencing on 10 November and ending on 24 November. The auction itself will take place on 25 November."

In the initial phase, 28 plots have been designated for mutts and ashrams, each ranging from 1,966 square meters to 10,417 square meters. Additionally, 12 commercial plots, each measuring 1,543 square meters to 9,252 square meters, will be allocated.

Officials have indicated that proposals for determining plot prices will be presented at the Housing Board meeting on 9 November.

The state government's vision for the new Ayodhya Greenfield township project is aimed at relieving congestion in the temple town, which is expected to witness a significant increase in the number of devotees following the opening of the Ram temple.
