Retired Colonel B Pandian, who participated in the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) fast and candlelight march to protest against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's (DMK)'s attitude has been booked for his remarks.

Pandian had said, “I am warning the Tamil Nadu government. The Indian Army is the second-largest army in the world and the most disciplined. If you provoke Army jawans, it is not good for Tamil Nadu, it is not good for the Tamil Nadu government. If you attempt to test us, then it will lead to law and order issues. I am saying it in a kind manner.

"The ex-servicemen here are experts in bombing, shooting and we are good at fighting as well. We know all these things but we don’t want to do them. I request the state government not to make us do these things. This is a warning.”

This was seen as a 'threat' to the DMK government. The Tiruvallikeni police have registered a case under the charges of disturbing public peace and inciting violence.

Prabhu, hailing from Krishnagiri district died as a result of being brutally beaten up by DMK councillor Chinnaswamy and his associates after an argument had broken out between them regarding washing clothes at a water tank. Chinnaswamy is an uncle of Prabhu.

According to Prabhakaran, brother of the deceased Prabhu and also an army soldier himself, Chinnaswamy had said that they may be in the army but they wouldn’t be able to do anything to him.

While DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan said that it was a ‘small thing’, Chief Minister MK Stalin has avoided answering questions on the topic. In a video shared by Republic TV, when a reporter asked Udhayanidhi Stalin as to why was the councillor not suspended from the party, Udhayanidhi kept saying that it is a ‘family matter’ and ‘he has been arrested.’
