The Education Ministry is set to release the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) for all levels in the coming months, updated textbooks to be introduced for the academic year 2024-25.

The NCF, a set of curricular guidelines, is a key component of the new National Education Policy (NEP).

Currently, the Ministry has released the NCF for the foundational level, which covers pre-school to Class 2, and plans to release NCF for other levels soon.

The updated textbooks will be printed in 13 languages, including Hindi and English.

The updated guidelines for the foundational level have already been adopted by the CBSE for the academic year 2023-24, and textbooks for Classes 1 and 2 will be released by the end of the month.

The development of the NCF is being led by an expert committee headed by K. Kasturirangan, former chief of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) who also helped shape the NEP 2020. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is overseeing the process, with input from 25 national focus groups.

Once the new textbooks are released, the government plans to align the syllabus with its new assessment platform, PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development).
