The news of the divorce of Congress leader and former Rajasthan deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot broke out when he filed his nomination paper for contesting election from the Tonk assembly constituency earlier today (31 October).
In the election affidavit, Sachin Pilot marked "divorced", contrary to the 2018 affidavit where he wrote Sara Pilot's name as spouse and provided details about her assets as well, Aaj Tak reported.
Sachin Pilot was previously married to Sara Pilot, who is the daughter of the veteran National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah.
Sara is also the sister of the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah. Sachin and Sara have two sons, Aran and Vihaan, both of whom Sachin Pilot described as dependents in his affidavit.
Furthermore, the election affidavit revealed that Sachin Pilot's wealth has nearly doubled over the course of five years. In his 2018 affidavit, Sachin declared assets worth Rs 3.8 crores, while in 2023, his assets have grown to approximately Rs 7.5 crores.
