Tejashwi Yadav with wife
While addressing a public gathering, Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav stated, "People label me as casteist. If that were true, why would I marry a girl of the Christian faith?"
He mentioned that his wife follows Christianity, and he criticised those who accuse him of being casteist for political reasons.
This comes in response to the BJP's attacks calling the Nitish Kumar government casteist over the recent decision of raising reservation quota after caste census.
However, the BJP was not satisfied with this explanation as Ram Sagar Singh targeted Tejashwi and said, "The poison of casteism has been instilled in Tejashwi's mind since childhood. If you were not casteist, why did you change Rachel's name to Rajshree Yadav? You changed your wife's name because your mentality is casteist."
Notably, Tejashwi Yadav got married to Rachel Godinho in December 2021. However, her name was changed to Rajshri Yadav. The couple was blessed with a baby girl in March 2023 and she was named Katyayani.
