Tamil Nadu Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday (28 February) called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to discuss issues like exemption for Tamil Nadu from the ambit of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government recently filed an appeal against NEET in the Supreme Court saying that the exam is against the principles of federalism and puts rural and state board students at a disadvanatge.

On his Twitter handle, Udhayanidhi, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said he had a pleasant meeting with the Prime Minister.

'I shared my deepest sympathies with him for his mother's passing away. He conveyed his regards to our Hon'ble CM. He enquired about the initiatives being taken in TN sports,' he said.

Udhayanidhi added that he informed the Prime Minister of his government's plan to construct a mini-stadium in every constituency. He also requested him to establish a Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre in Chennai and give Tamil Nadu an opportunity to host the next Khelo India games.

Further, he said that PM Modi shared his experience of building stadiums and and sports infrastructure during his tenure in Gujarat.

He posted a picture of him presenting to Modi a replica of saint poet Tiruvalluvar's statue at Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu.

This is Udhayanidhi Stalin's first meeting with PM Modi after he assumed office as Minister in December last year.
