Ancient remnants found at Ram Janmabhoomi
Champat Rai, the General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, revealed on Tuesday (12 September) that excavations at the Ram Janmabhoomi site in Ayodhya had uncovered numerous remnants of an ancient temple. These remnants primarily consisted of pillars and idols.
Rai's post on X stated, "Remains of an ancient temple found during excavation at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi. It includes many statues and pillars."
Rai, who also serves as the international vice president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), shared an image depicting parts of idols intricately carved from large stones, as well as pillars.
The official Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra account on X had previously shared images of the first floor of the Ram Temple, which is presently under construction in Ayodhya.
The images featured scaffolding and construction workers, and the trust captioned them with "Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir - First Floor."
On 19 August, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally inspected the ongoing construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and offered prayers to Lord Ram Lalla at the Ram Janamabhoomi site.
The construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has been progressing rapidly since Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the Bhoomi puja (groundbreaking ceremony) on 5 August 2020.
In February 2020, PM Modi had announced the formation of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra to oversee the temple's construction.
On 9 November 2019, a five-judge Supreme Court bench, led by then Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, ruled in favor of Ram Lalla and awarded the entire disputed land, spanning 2.7 acres, to a government-formed trust responsible for supervising the construction of the Ram Temple at the site.
