Haryana: Violent Clashes Break Out During VHP Rally In Nuh; Stones Pelted, Situation Tense

Internet services are suspended and Section 144 enforced in Haryana's Nuh district. This action followed violent clashes between two communities during a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) rally on Monday (31 July). The clashes resulted in injuries to several individuals and the torching of vehicles.
Tensions escalated due to the alleged presence of Monu Manesar, a well-known cow vigilante and member of Bajrang Dal, who is wanted for the murder of two men in Rajasthan. News18 reported that his presence at the VHP rally sparked anger among members of a particular community.
Reports indicate that the atmosphere along the Gurugram-Alwar National Highway near Nuh city has become tense. Stone-pelting occurred during the 'Shobha Yatra', adding to the already heightened tensions.
During the clashes, numerous vehicles, both government and private, were set ablaze. Additionally, the police faced a barrage of stones and responded by firing to control the situation.
Sporadic incidents are being reported at various places in the area, leading to a tense situation overall.
Over 1,000 police personnel have been deployed to address the situation in the city. Residents have also been instructed to stay in their homes.
The VHP had announced that the Brajmandal (Mewat) Jalabhishek Yatra, organised by their Yuva Shakti Bajrang Dal, began at 10 am from Nalhad Mahadev Temple and would end at Shringar Temple, Punhana.
Monu Manesar, a murder suspect who had been on the run for the past five months, came under police scrutiny after he released a video suggesting his presence at the yatra. A police team from Rajasthan's Bharatpur was dispatched to Nuh to apprehend him.
According to an India TV report, stone-pelting took place at a chowk approximately 2 km from a temple. In response, VHP workers also threw stones at the attackers.
Monu Manesar, who considers himself a protector of cows, is being sought for the kidnapping and killing of Nasir and Junaid, who were both residents of Ghatmeeka village in Bharatpur district, Rajasthan. On 7 February, a case was filed against him at Pataudi police station.
Earlier this year, the Gurugram police in Haryana conducted raids in an attempt to apprehend him for his involvement in a murder case.
