Chief Minister M K Stalin

Dear Reader,

There's a 70 seat gap between what Prime Minister Narendra Modi said his party will score in 2024 and what his party scored in 2019.

The BJP has already maxed out in the Hindi belt and in states such as Karnataka and Maharashtra. So where are those extra 70 seats going to come from?

The only states where you can expect additional seats for the BJP are Tamil Nadu, Odisha and perhaps Kerala. Tamil Nadu is the largest in this list and DMK is the main opposition to the BJP here. And quite fortunately for the BJP the entire DMK leadership is going to be stuck in courts fighting corruption cases instead of elections for the next few weeks.

The side effect? The BJP might win the narrative wars on corruption and perhaps even a few seats to bridge the 70 seat gap the PM spoke about.
