Intense Conflict: The 6th Battalion of the Kumaon Regiment faced heavy assaults in one of the fiercest battles of the Sino-Indian War of 1962.
Gallantry Awards: Five Vir Chakras were awarded to individuals from 6 Kumaon for their bravery.
Heavy Casualties: Only 17 Indian soldiers from the Delta Company of 6 Kumaon returned from the battle, while the Chinese side suffered approximately five times more casualties.
