To H1B Or Not To Be

Dear Reader,

Vivek Ramaswamy is out of DOGE. H1B is getting tighter. Birthright citizenship is seemingly over. Online racism against Indians is peaking. Is the golden era of the great Indian diaspora ending?

Just a few weeks ago it didn't seem so.

Vivek was making all the right noises as the co-head of DOGE (and months ago as a contender for the Republican ticket). Kash Patel became President Trump’s nominee to lead the FBI. Tulsi Gabbard was picked as the next Director of National Intelligence (DNI) by Trump. Sriram Krishnan is Trump's Senior Policy Advisor for AI. And yes, Usha Vance is now the Second Lady of the United States.

What changed? Is Indian diaspora too successful for its own good? Or did everyone miss the existing undercurrents of pushback from the White Abrahamic West?

To understand this in full, let's begin from the beginning — the 18th-19th century.
