Weekend Quiz: On Rash Behari Bose's Birth Anniversary

-

Dear readers,

Did you know that Karē raisu, or curry rice, a popular Japanese dish, has an interesting link to an Indian revolutionary? Yes, you read that right!

Why it matters: Rash Behari Bose, a revolutionary from West Bengal, played a key role in India's struggle for independence.

  • Known for his daring plans against the British and his ability to evade capture, Bose was a master of disguises and a true patriot.

  • In fact, it was Rash Behari Bose who invited Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to Japan and passed the baton to lead the Indian National Army.

The twist: After fleeing to Japan, Bose found refuge at Nakamuraya bakery in Tokyo, where he introduced authentic Indian curry. His spicy version of Karē raisu became a sensation and remains a bestseller to this day.
