The Punjab Police on Friday (6 May) morning arrested Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga over alleged threat to Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal.

The BJP spokesperson, who has been critical of AAP and Kejriwal over the Delhi CM's remarks on 'The Kashmir Files' movie, had earlier shared apprehensions of being arrested.

The Punjab Police had last month booked Bagga on charges of making provocative statement, promoting religious enmity, and criminal intimidation.

"Tajinder Bagga of the BJP, a party of the uncouth, was arrested by the Punjab Police. He had threatened Arvind Kejriwal and said, 'Jeene nahi denge' (won't let you live)' ,” AAP’s Delhi MLA Naresh Balyan tweeted on Friday morning.

"The police personnel who came to our home today morning said that Tajinder gave a death threat to Arvind Kejriwal. The Delhi Police had no information about the incident; A DCP is here now,” Preetpal Singh Bagga, father of the BJP leader, was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

"They didn't allow him to even wear his turban. Complaint filed over manhandling of Tajindar Bagga by his father," Gupta said.

"Kejriwal's Hitler-like act will cost him," the Delhi BJP chief said, adding that the Punjab Police was acting on directions of Kejriwal.

After arresting Bagga, the Punjab police, which comes under CM Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government, was taking him to Mohali via road, but was stopped by the Haryana Police, which took them to the Thanesar Police Station in Kurukshetra.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police registered a case of kidnapping based on a complaint by Bagga's father that some people came to his house in Delhi's Janakpuri around 8 am and took away his son.
