On Saturday (21 October), the Congress party revealed its first set of candidates, totaling 33 names, for the impending assembly elections in Rajasthan.

Notably, Rajasthan's Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, will be running from the Sardarpura constituency, while Sachin Pilot is set to contest from his traditional stronghold, Tonk. The Congress state unit president, Dotasra, will vie for the Lachchmangarh seat, and Speaker CP Joshi is confirmed to compete in Nathdwara. Minister Harish Choudhary has been named as the candidate for the Baytoo assembly seat, with Divya Maderna contesting from Osian, and Krishna Poonia entering the race for the Sadulpur assembly constituency.

Mamta Bhupesh, the Minister of Child Empowerment in Rajasthan, is slated to contest from the Sikrai-SC seat.


As the Central Election Committee of the Congress is yet to finalize names for the majority of seats, more candidate announcements are expected as they convene on Sunday.

Previously, the Bharatiya Janata Party had revealed its second list of 83 candidates, following an initial list of 41 candidates for the elections.
