Congress Set For Victory In Telangana: Here's Everything You Should Know

Congress is racing towards a victory in Telangana, delivering a major upset for Chief Minister K Chadrasekhar Rao led Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

According to the Election Commission, Congress has secured leads on 63 seats in the state, surpassing the majority mark of 60 seats in the 119-seat Telangana Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, the ruling BRS is trailing with leads on 35 seats, with BJP a distant third with 9 seats.

With Congress set to score a victory, now the focus is on Telangana Congress president Revanth Reddy who may become the next Chief Minister of the Telugu state. Read more here.

However, in an interesting turn of event, BJP candidate Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy is leading form Ramareddy, the seat from which both CM KCR and Congress' Revanth Reddy are contesting.


Conceding the defeat of his party BRS, CM KCR's son and Telangana IT minister K T Rama Rao, who is leading towards a comfortable win, hopes that the party will bounce back in next election.

"Grateful to the people of Telangana for giving BRS party two consecutive terms of Government Not saddened over the result today, but surely disappointed as it was not in expected lines for us. But we will take this in our stride as a learning and will bounce back. Congratulations to Congress party on winning the mandate. Wishing you Good Luck," said KTR on X platform.

BJP, which is leading on nine seats, has improved its tally and is emerging as the third largest party in the state. The party had won one seat in the last elections.

Meanwhile, Asaddudin Owaisi's AIMIM is leading on six seats. The party had won seven seats in the last elections.
