The Delhi Police on Thursday (15 June) filed a cancellation report before the Patiala House Court in connection with minor wrestler’s allegation of sexual harassment against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Saran Singh.
A cancellation report is filed in cases when the Police finds no corroborative evidence after due investigation.
The Delhi Police has filed the aforesaid cancellation report for quashing of POCSO charges against Singh.
The Patiala Court is the one designated for POCSO matters and the hearing on cancellation of the case will be on 4 July.
Previously, the minor wrestler’s father had took back the complaint under the POCSO Act, after he was assured that allegations of foul play during 2022 U-17 Championship will be adequately investigated.
The Delhi Police also filed a chargesheet against BJP MP and the outgoing WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in another case involving other women wrestlers.
Over 180 people were questioned by the police in connection with the allegations.
With respect to the second FIR, the Special Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava has informed that the chargesheet has been filed under Sections 354, 354D, 345A & 506 (1) of IPC in connection with the sexual harassment charges levelled by the wrestlers.
The next date of hearing is 22 June.
Other details of the voluminous chargesheet filed by the Delhi Police in the Rouse Avenue Court are yet to be updated.
The FIR in respect of which the chargesheet has been filed relates to allegations of sexual harassment by wrestlers including Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat against Singh.
