In a surprising turn of events, Gunda Ravinder, once a staunch supporter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), has decided to sell the small temple he constructed in front of his residence in Dhandapelli back in 2016.
Ravinder, a prominent proponent of the Telangana movement, had originally built the temple as a tribute to the leader of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party, spending Rs 2 lakh on its construction.
A member of the Arya Vysya community, Ravinder expressed his admiration for KCR's role during the Telangana movement, a sentiment that led him to create the temple with a statue honouring the TRS supremo.
However, citing a lack of support from the ruling party, particularly from Mancherial MLA N Diwakar Rao, Ravinder has decided to part ways with the temple.
Expressing his disappointment, Ravinder highlighted the absence of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders, including MLC K Kavitha and Mancherial district leaders, during the temple's inauguration.
Despite a personal relationship established during the Telangana movement, Ravinder disclosed that attempts to meet KCR at Pragathi Bhavan and Telangana Bhavan were unsuccessful.
The decision to sell the temple reflects a significant shift in Ravinder's stance, once a fervent supporter who sought to immortalise KCR's contributions.
As political dynamics evolve in Telangana, this move underscores the challenges faced by grassroots supporters who feel neglected within the political landscape.
