A chilling rape and murder incident at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College has sparked widespread outrage and controversy. The case involves a 31-year-old trainee doctor who was allegedly gang-raped and murdered on the college premises.

Following the discovery of her body, there have been accusations that the crime scene was tampered with by hospital authorities. Renovation work began close to the crime scene just days after the incident, raising concerns that crucial evidence might have been deliberately destroyed.

Students in the city have led protests, accusing the state government of shielding the real culprits, possibly linked to influential figures in the ruling party.

The incident has put West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the spotlight. Instead of addressing the apparent lapses in state law and order, Banerjee has deflected the blame onto the central government, accusing it of politicising the tragedy.

This has further fuelled public anger, with opposition leaders demanding her resignation.

Notably, several women parliamentarians who are usually vocal on issues of women's safety have yet to speak out against this horrific incident, raising questions about their silence in this case.

Many of these leaders have been vocal about getting 'justice' for Olympian Vinesh Phogat in the last few days.

But the tweets for the Kolkata doctor who suffered at the hands of rapists stand at zero. Netizens are now calling out political leaders for not speaking up against the rapists.
