Karnataka BJP Core Committee Meets In Bengaluru To Discuss Candidates; First List Expected Around 6 or 7 April

The Karnataka BJP core committee is meeting in Bengaluru today, 31st March 2023, to discuss the ticket distribution for the upcoming Assembly elections.

The committee will meet for two days at a private resort in Nelamangala. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and State BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel will lead the proceedings.

Prior to the meeting, the BJP had tasked close to 100 observers to collect names of potential candidates in each constituency, through ballot paper. Mandal presidents, taluk office bearers, and district morcha office bearers were asked to submit the names of their preferred candidates in a secret ballot.

These ballots have been brought to Bengaluru and the names will be discussed in the ongoing meeting.

Earlier, On 27 March, meetings of state BJP election campaign committee and core committee were held under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.


Since the notification of the Assembly polls in the state by the Election Commission, a high voltage election campaign is going on in Karnataka.

The first list of candidates of the Congress and the JD(S) has already been released.

The first list of the BJP is expected to be released around 6 April.

As per reports, the state unit of the BJP will receive three names for each constituency from the observers. The state leadership then has to finalise two names from each constituency and send them to the the central leadership for final decision.
