TN CM Stalin writes to Delhi CM Kejriwal regarding blanket ban on firecrackers.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin wrote a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asking him to withdraw the blanket ban on firecrackers imposed in the national capital.

He mentioned that this would go a long way in helping the lives of lakhs of people in Sivakasi, especially rural women, who are dependent on the fireworks industry which has about 70 per cent of its business during Diwali.

In an earlier letter on the issue, Stalin had pointed out that the Supreme Court had allowed crackers for 2 hours during festive occasions and those countries that are highly environmentally proactive also allow bursting crackers as a mark of celebration.

Citing the minimum incremental impact of bursting firecrackers for a few hours on the festival days given the major pollutants in cities are vehicular and industrial emissions, Stalin urged Kejriwal to take a balanced view on the situation.
