Promoting Ved Vidya: Govt To Set Up Five Regional Centres Of Vedic Education Board In Chardham, Maa Kamakhya Devi Peeth

The government plans to establish five new regional centres of the Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Sanskrit Shiksha Board (MSRVSSB), in addition to the existing primary centre in Ujjain, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan told Rajya Sabha on Wednesday (2 August).

The minister stated that these new sub-centres, aimed at promoting Ved Vidya, will be set up in Char Dham and Maa Kamakhya Devi Peeth in the north-east region.

“Apart from Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Ved Vidya Pratishthan in Ujjain, five sub-centres… are being started in Char Dham and Maa Kamakhya Devi Peeth in the north-east to promote Ved Vidya,” the minister said, reports Indian Express.

Initially established on 8 August 2022, the MSRVSSB had only one centre for Vedic education, located in Ujjain.

According to Pradhan, there are 123 pathshalas in the country with a total of 4,600 students and 632 teachers. Additionally, there are 258 Guru Shishya Parampara Units with 2,240 students and 430 teachers.

He also informed that the Centre has allocated around Rs 167.66 crore to Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Ved Vidya Pratisthan (MSRSVVP) in the last three years.

The expenditure of the Vedic Board is met out of the money allocated to MSRVVP, he added.
