Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP chief N was arrested on Saturday (9 September) on allegations of corruption and shifted to Vijayawada.

Naidu's arrest is linked to an alleged Rs 317 crore scam in the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation during his time as Chief Minister. This body was established under TDP rule to provide skill training to young individuals.

In the early morning hours, Naidu was apprehended by officers from the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department after a dramatic sequence of events unfolded late at night.

During the previous night, officers arrived at a function hall in Nandyal to serve an arrest warrant to Naidu.

However, they faced opposition from the TDP chief's supporters, preventing them from taking him into custody.

During the incident, a small altercation occurred between Naidu's supporters and the police. Naidu has raised concerns about the lack of evidence against him, questioning the basis for his arrest.

"Show me where my name is. How can they arrest me without basic evidence?" Naidu said, reports NDTV.

Amidst the confrontation, TDP supporters confronted the police, demanding answers.

In the notice served to Naidu, senior officer of CID's Economic Offences Wing M Dhanunjayudu informed him of his arrest.

"It is to inform you that you have been arrested... at 6 am at R K Function Hall, Gnanapuram, H/o Moolasagaram, Nandyala town and it is a non-bailable offence," Dhanunjayudu said.

The charges against the former Chief Minister include criminal conspiracy, cheating, dishonestly inducing delivery of property, and section 465.

Additionally, the Prevention of Corruption Act has been invoked in this case.

Naidu's arrest occurred days after his own prediction that he could be arrested in the near future.

During a public meeting in Anantapur district, the TDP chief expressed concerns about potential arrest and even physical attacks, stating that he could face multiple atrocities.

"Today or tomorrow they could arrest me. They may even attack me. Not one, they will do many atrocities," Naidu had said, NDTV reported.
