During his questioning by the probe agency under the Congress-led UPA government, Union Home Minister Amit Shah claimed the CBI was pressuring him to fabricate a case against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a alleged fake encounter case in Gujarat.
Shah responded to Opposition's accusation of the Modi government's "misuse" of central agencies during the 'News 18 Rising India' event in New Delhi.
He stated that the CBI pressured him to falsely implicate Modi during his time as Gujarat CM under the Congress government, and the BJP did not make a fuss about it.
The Home Minister mentioned that other politicians had also lost their membership of the legislature due to being convicted by a court. According to him, Rahul has been blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi instead of escalating his case to a higher court.
Shah advised Rahul Gandhi to take his case to a higher court instead of accusing PM Modi.
"The Congress is spreading false information," he stated. "The court might suspend the sentence, but the conviction cannot be halted."
17 leaders, including Lalu Prasad, J Jayalalitha, and Raashid Alvi, lost their membership following a 2013 Supreme Court order during the UPA government. The order stated that an elected representative would lose their seat immediately after conviction. Shah mentioned that no one protested wearing black clothes as it is the "law of the land".
He urged people to listen to Rahul Gandhi's speech, which included abusive language directed "not only at Modi but also towards the entire Modi community and OBC society."
Shah questioned the notice to leave his bungalow, arguing against granting him special favor despite the Supreme Court's ruling to act promptly upon conviction.
India's democracy isn't threatened when Lalu is disqualified, but when someone from the Gandhi family is disqualified, it's endangerment, he said.
When the Home Minister was asked about Rahul's remark on Savarkar, he responded that Veer Savarkar was the only freedom fighter who received two life sentences in the Andaman prison.
He stated that the language Rahul used regarding Savarkar was inappropriate, and that his own party members were advising him not to speak out against Savarkar. Additionally, he encouraged Rahul to read his grandmother's speech on the topic.
