Padma Shri awardee Shah Rasheed Ahmed Quadri has thanked Prime Minister Modi after he received the award on 5 April.
Quadri, who is a Bidri craft artist, said that he expected Padma award earlier during UPA government, but didn’t get it.
Adding further, he said that he didn’t expect to get the award under the BJP government, but was thankful to the PM Modi for proving him wrong.
"You proved me wrong," Quadri told PM Modi when he came to congratulate him for the prestigious award.
In a video, Quadri, who received the Padma Shri award from President Droupadi Murmu, could be seen shaking hands with PM Modi.
President Murmu presented three Padma Vibhushan, five Padma Bhushan and forty seven Padma Shri Awards for the year 2023 at the second investiture ceremony held in Darbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhawan on 5 April.
The first investiture ceremony was held on 22 March.
While interacting with Prime Minister Modi, and speaking about the award, Shah Rasheed Ahmed Quadri said, "I waited for five years during the UPA government, but it didn't happen. I did not expect the BJP government to give it to me. But you proved me wrong and I am really thankful for that".
PM Modi reciprocated with a namaste and a smile.
