An all-party meeting has been reportedly scheduled by the government for 2 December, preceding the winter session of Parliament.
The session is scheduled to start on 4 December and end on 22 December.
Although the all-party meeting is typically scheduled a day prior to the session's commencement, it has been moved up by a day this time, seemingly due to the vote counting for five states on 3 December, where elections are currently in process.
The outcome of the assembly elections is believed to significantly influence the session, where the government is eager to approve crucial bills.
The Ethics Committee's report regarding the "cash for query" accusations levelled against TMC MP Mahua Moitra will be presented in the Lok Sabha during this session.
The report must be approved by the House before the expulsion suggested by the committee can be implemented.
In addition, three crucial bills aiming to substitute the IPC, CrPC, and the Evidence Act are expected to be deliberated. The standing committee on Home has recently approved these three reports.
Another crucial legislation awaiting action in Parliament pertains to the appointment of the chief election commissioner and other election commissioners.
The government, which introduced the bill during the Monsoon session, did not advocate for its passage in the special parliamentary session. This was due to protests from the opposition and former chief election commissioners.
The bill aims to equate the status of the chief election commissioner and election commissioners with that of the Cabinet Secretary.
Currently, they hold the position equivalent to that of a Supreme Court judge.
