Setting the pace for the upcoming 2024 elections and many crucial state polls slated this year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced new chiefs in several states.
G Kishan Reddy, an MP and union minister, has been appointed as the leader of the BJP in Telangana, replacing Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Etela Rajender, who previously served as the first finance minister of Telangana, has been appointed as the chairman of the BJP's state election management committee for the upcoming Telangana assembly polls.
Daggubati Purandeswari, the daughter of Telugu Desam Party founder and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister NT Rama Rao, has been elevated as the president of the Andhra Pradesh BJP.
Sunil Kumar Jakhar, a former MP who switched from the Congress party in May last year, citing his desire to support "nationalism, unity, and brotherhood in Punjab," will now lead the BJP in Punjab.
Babulal Marandi, the current Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, is also the BJP Jharkhand president.
Kiran Kumar Reddy, who served as the last Chief Minister of the United Andhra Pradesh before the formation of Telangana, has been appointed as a member of the party's national executive committee.
On 7 July, the BJP has scheduled a meeting for all the state presidents, state general secretaries, and state in charges.
This meeting will be presided over by BJP president JP Nadda and National General Secretary BL Santosh.
According to BJP sources, there is also a likelihood of a union cabinet meeting at 10.30am tomorrow.
