The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is set to form the government in Goa with a majority of 25 out of the total 40 seats in the state assembly.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis, BJP’s election in-charge for Goa, claimed that the saffron party has secured a letter of support from the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP).

The BJP has won 20 seats on its own. The MGP has emerged victorious in two constituencies whereas Fadnavis revealed that three independent candidates have also offered the incumbent BJP government.

MGP was actually in a pre-poll alliance with the Trinamool Congress (TMC), who has drawn a blank in the Goa assembly polls.

“There is a possibility that more candidates will join us. So we are forming the government,” Fadnavis told reporters in a press conference in the coastal state.
