Fodder Scam Case: CBI Moves SC Against Bail Granted To RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday (18 August) moved the Supreme Court challenging the bail granted to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav in cases linked to the Fodder scam.
Additional Solicitor General, SV Raju appearing for the CBI requested the bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and comprising of Justices Sanjay Karol and Manoj Misra for early listing of the matter today, reports Livelaw.
The Supreme Court agreed to list the appeals filed by CBI on 25 August.
The CBI has approached the apex Court to challenge the Jharkhand High Court's order on 22 April 2022, which granted bail to Yadav in the Daronda treasury case.
Lalu had previously been sentenced to five years in prison by a CBI special court in the Daronda treasury case.
74-year-old Yadav is currently out on temporary bail due to his poor health.
He was convicted in multiple cases related to the fodder scam.
The fodder scam refers to illegal withdrawals worth Rs 950 crore from various government treasuries for fictitious expenditure on fodder and other requirements for cattle during Lalu Prasad Yadav's term as Bihar chief minister, reports India Today.
