The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Raghav Chadha, a member of parliament in Rajya Sabha from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), of committing alleged fraud in relation to the Delhi Services Bill.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah claimed on Monday (8 August) that the AAP leader forged the signatures of five MPs in the motion to send the Delhi Services Bill to a select committee.

The party, however, has denied these accusations and stated that according to the rules, there is no requirement for a signature when proposing a select committee.

According to a party official, "Since no signature is required, there is no basis for any allegation of 'forged signature' whatsoever."

Sources from the AAP have mentioned that the names of the five MPs were provided in good faith, as they have actively participated in discussions on the bill, both inside and outside of parliament.

According to sources, the rules state that only the presumption of consent or inclination of a member is required to be part of the select committee.

The five MPs who have given individual notices of breach of privilege against Raghav Chadha are BJP's S Phangnon Konyak, Narhari Amin, Sudhanshu Trivedi, M Thambidurai from All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, and Sasmit Patra from the Biju Janata Dal.

In response to the matter, Raghav Chadha stated, "Let a privilege committee send me a notice, and I will respond."

Following an eight-hour debate, the Bill successfully passed its final legislative hurdle in the Rajya Sabha on Monday (8 August).

The bill grants authority to the central government to establish regulations pertaining to the administration of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

This includes determining the responsibilities, tenure, and employment conditions of officers and employees.
