UP CM Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday (18 July) said that the state has moved out of the BIMARU category and is now making positive contributions to India's development, becoming a 'Saksham Pradesh' (capable state).

CM Yogi Adityanath stated that while many states still fall under the BIMARU category due to lack of development, Uttar Pradesh has successfully emerged from it and is actively contributing to the progress of the country.

"In the last six years, Uttar Pradesh has emerged out from the category of 'sick state' and has moved towards becoming a 'capable state'," CM Yogi said.

“Many of the States continue to carry the BIMARU category even today in the absence of the required development, while Uttar Pradesh has come out of it and positively contributing to the development of India,” he said, reports The Hindu.

He made these remarks while distributing appointment letters to 1,573 Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM) health workers in Lucknow.

Without explicitly mentioning names, the UP Chief Minister attacked Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav and general secretary Shivpal Singh Yadav.

He accused the uncle-nephew duo of collecting money from people whenever government job vacancies were announced. In contrast, under the BJP government, all recruitments are conducted with complete transparency, CM Yogi said.

In the past 1.5 years, the BJP government has organized 19 programmes for distributing appointment letters, resulting in about 58,000 young individuals securing government jobs, he said..

The Chief Minister also emphasised the state's transformation into a "Saksham Pradesh" under the BJP government and shared statistics from the NITI Aayog.

He mentioned that in 2015-16, around 37.68 per cent of the state's population, equivalent to roughly six crore people, were below the poverty line.

However, due to the BJP government's efforts, this percentage has decreased to 22 per cent in 2019-20 and currently stands at 12 per cent, he added.
