JNU To Form Committee To Look Into 'Anti-National' Slogans On Campus

The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration will set up a committee to look into the repeated incidents of 'anti-national' slogans being raised on campus.
This comes a day after a series of pictures on social media depicting offensive writings on the walls of the JNU's School of Languages building.
The university administration took swift action and repainted the walls.
The JNU Rector, Satish Chandra Garkoti, was quoted as saying by PTI that that they are currently awaiting a report from the chief security officer.
Based on the recommendations in the report, appropriate measures will be taken to address the issue, he added.
The university has planned to form a committee to address the recurring incidents of "anti-national" slogans on its campus, according to Garkoti.
In December last year, offensive slogans and casteist slurs like "Brahmins Leave The Campus" and "Brahmino-Baniyas, we are coming for you! We will avenge," were found scribbled on the walls of the School of International Studies at the university.
In November 2019, a statue of Swami Vivekananda at JNU was defaced with objectionable messages.
Additionally, there have been instances of students painting the walls of the vice chancellor's office in protest against a fee hike, as well as the raising of "anti-India" slogans within the campus.
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a students' union affiliated with RSS, recently sent a letter to the university administration demanding action against the chief security officer for failure to prevent such incidents.
