The Madhya Pradesh government has initiated a probe into a private school in Damoh district. A controversy has arisen regarding the uniform of the school.

Some individuals allege that a portion of the uniform resembles a hijab. Officials made this announcement on Wednesday, reports The Indian Express.

Earlier, allegations were made about a poster from Ganga Jamuna Higher Secondary School in Damoh. The poster depicted girls, including Hindu students, wearing headscarves that resembled hijabs.

Narottam Mishra, the State Home Minister, stated that the district education officer initially investigated the matter, but received no complaints.

“No complaint was received in this regard. In view of the seriousness of the issue, the superintendent of police has been instructed to thoroughly investigate it,” he said, as per the report.

Hindu groups protested at the district collector's office, demanding the school's registration be cancelled. They claimed Hindu girl students were being forced to wear hijab.

The Damoh Collector Mayank Agrawal initially found the accusation of religious conversion to be false, but after receiving instructions from the home minister, he announced the formation of a team to investigate the matter.

Priyank Kanoongo, NCPCR chairman, tweeted: “Cognisance is being taken and instructions are being sent to Damoh collector and superintendent of police for necessary action.”
