Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar

On Thursday (19 October), the Karnataka High Court handed down a verdict dismissing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar's petition to quash the CBI's investigation into his alleged disproportionate assets.

The decision was delivered by Justice K Natarajan, who had been presiding over the case.

The High Court also lifted the temporary halt on the CBI's inquiry, instructing the agency to conclude its investigation and submit a final report within the next three months.

Earlier in the week, the Supreme Court declined to revoke the interim stay on the CBI's investigation into the case involving the senior Congress leader's alleged disproportionate assets.

A panel comprising Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi issued a notice to Shivakumar in response to the CBI's challenge to the Karnataka High Court's ruling of 12 June.

They have also requested his response by 7 November, as reported by the news agency PTI.
