A day after the coalition of 26 Opposition parties chose the name I.N.D.I.A, the tagline "Jeetega Bharat" (India will win) has been finalized for the anti-BJP alliance.

This coalition aims to challenge the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The decision on the tagline was made after extensive consultations late Tuesday (18 July) night.

Uddhav Thackeray, the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and current chief of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), suggested that the Opposition alliance should have a Hindi tagline.

The name "I.N.D.I.A" - Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance - was decided during the Opposition's two-day conclave in Bengaluru, which concluded yesterday.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the 2024 Lok Sabha election will be a battle between "Modi and I.N.D.I.A".

He emphasised that the fight is between the NDA and I.N.D.I.A, Narendra Modi and I.N.D.I.A, as well as their ideologies.

Gandhi expressed confidence that India will always emerge victorious in all battles. While the Opposition held a meeting in Bengaluru, the BJP also organised a gathering with representatives from 39 parties in Delhi on Tuesday.

During his address to the gathering of NDA parties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly criticised the Opposition front, stating that alliances based on negativity have never been successful.

He also said that a dynastic and corrupt alliance would be detrimental to the country.

To counter the I.N.D.I.A name, the Prime Minister spoke of "Bharat" and said the NDA represents the poor and the backward classes.

The Opposition's decision to focus on "Bharat" seems to be an effort to counter the BJP's "Bharat vs India" argument, reports NDTV.
